The City of Dallas will soon launch a crackdown on bars masquerading as restaurants.

The City’s rules stipulate that if more than 75 percent of sales come from alcohol, then that location is a bar. These restaurants will soon have to prove that they qualify as restaurants.
In a stretch of Lower Greenville, only two of the many places that sell alcohol are zoned as bars.
"According to the owners down there, they're all a row of restaurants, and I think if you ask anyone they know it's a row of bars,” Dallas councilmember Angela Hunt said.
Lower Greenville is a target of the crackdown, and some customers are worried.
"I think that would be a really bad decision,” Jacquelyn Mangione said. “I think Greenville is so Dallas. Why would they want to change it?"
City leaders want bars to comply with rules requiring public hearings and a special use permit. They said they don’t want to put anyone out of business, just to change the way the do business.
