Castle Acquisitions explains Gleeson decision

Castle Acquisitions said it had walked away from making a possible offer for MJ Gleeson after the housebuilder unveiled plans to break itself up. Hotels in Riga

Gleeson said alongside first-half results that it planned to sell off various parts of its business, move its head office and was considering a move to the junior AIM market. Castle said following Gleeson’s strategic review, it had "decided not to proceed with the making of an offer at this stage." Gleeson had already rejected an indicative offer from Castle in December.

Abramovich eyes up Ł6m castle estate

SPECULATION is mounting that Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich has bought a 16th Century Perthshire castle.

The Russian billionaire has been linked with Aberuchill Castle Estate, near Crieff, which is set in 3300 acres of land and has 13 bedrooms, 12 estate houses, five reception rooms, a farm and 704 acres of forestry. It is selling for Ł6 million.

The PA understands that Abramovich – who is thought to have a personal fortune of around Ł7 billion – viewed the estate last week, but selling agents Strutt and Parker have not confirmed he is the new proprietor.
