Starbucks Down on Lower March Sales

Starbucks Corp. stock fell Thursday after the Seattle-based coffee chain reported March sales that were slightly below expectations.

Realty Income Corp. is paying $59 million to buy 89 Pizza Hut restaurants from NPC International Inc., an Overland Park, Kan., company.

The restaurants have, on average, about 3,000 leasable square feet situated on an average lot size of approximately 37,000 square feet, with an average purchase price for each property of approximately $663,000, RIC said Friday. The 89 properties are located in 13 states.

Shares of Starbucks Corp. fell in late trading Thursday after the coffee retailer said same-store sales rose 6% in June, down from a 7% increase the year before and below analysts' average forecast.

Analysts had been looking for a 7% rise in comparable store sales for the month, according to Thomson First Call.

The Seattle-based company's (SBUX) stock fell as much as 4% on the Inet and were last down $1.09, or 2.9%, at $36.79.
